What it does

One robot, a full welcome desk on wheels.

Everything a first-time visitor needs from a helpful human: approachable, patient and always on.

Live01

Voice & touchscreen

Ask out loud or tap the screen. The robot listens, answers and shows the information right there.

Live02

Wayfinding & directions

Point-to-point directions across campus: rooms, buildings, facilities and the fastest way there.

Live03

Answers questions

Course details, opening times, events, “where do I go?” The things people ask a real guide.

Live04

Robotic arm & gripper

A vacuum-suction arm picks up and hands out campus maps, or chocolates and treats at events.

Live05

Guided tours

Leads prospective students and visitors on tours during open days, keeping groups together.

In development06

Autonomous navigation

Indoor mapping, obstacle avoidance and route guidance, so it can walk visitors there itself.

The robot

Designed, built and tested end to end.

The Smart Campus Navigation Robot began as a final-year Mechatronics project and grew into a working prototype: a touchscreen and voice guide with a robotic arm, engineered from CAD and component selection through prototyping, assembly and testing.
